Through the Woods
2025, Risograph
“Through the Woods” explores the layering techniques used in risograph printing, and how the addition of new layers can completely change a piece. It has won an award of excellence in the Art Director’s Association of Iowa’s 67 exhibition, and been shown at Mainframe Studios in Des Moines, IA.
Layer One. This layer is the lightest, and establishes major silhouettes.
Layer Two. This layer adds detail to the first layer, and builds tone in the foreground.
Layer Three. Detail is added to the foreground, and shadows are defined.
Layer Four. My final layer adds a contrasting color to define line, shadow, and add a cooler overlay to tone down some of the brighter colors.
